Comforting Kids w/Medical or Shot Anxiety
Prairie Pediatrics wants ALL kids to feel comfortable and safe when visiting the doctor, so they can get the care they need to stay healthy & thrive.
Our entire team is focused on providing a caring, supportive and calm environment for kids and their families.

If your child is anxious or fearful of going to the doctor or getting shots, here are some great tips & resources for easing medical anxiety:
- Bring comfort items like blankets or stuffed animals that your child loves. Headphones for music can also be helpful.
- Watch this Daniel Tiger video with your child where he goes to the doctor and gets a shot
- Read our Prairie Pediatrics Story with your child to show them child exactly what to expect at our office and help them mitigate sensory issues
- Watch this video about comfort positioning for shots from Children's Hospital of Colorado
- Check out the Meg Foundation website for lots more tips and resources for reducing medical & shot anxiety
- Ask us to use the "shot blocker" for your child. It's a small topical device we have in the office that helps the shot feel less intense.
